Niels 'SHOE' Meulman is one of the Dutch Graffiti legends who's been around since the late 70's. In 2007 he launched his 'calligraffiti' movement, a combination of caligraphy and graffiti. On March 20th he'll launch his book at the American Bookcenter in Amsterdam. Details here
Random order is an amazing show with the works of Erosie, Graphic Sugery, Zward and Bier & Brood. The show is in the Alley Guerilla gallery in Hasselt, Belgium. If you're in the neighborhood you should definitely stop by because it definitely looks worth while. More info here.
Amsterdam is a bit of a Museum, and not the modern kind. Also not the kind that gives Banksy the chance to make it his own. Just an old fashioned museum. Nothing wrong with that, unless you're trying to do something with contemporary/modern art. With the city's only big Contemporary museum closed 'till at least 2012 we have to get this form of art in smaller doses. That's why it's great to see that artists and agents are not standing still and keep on finding new ways to let it all flow to the public.

My newest show is a collective that will combine photography with original pieces by street artists both Italian and non to celebrate the past year of urban art in Rome. Check out more info on my blog.
This is for all you sticker heads out there. A wicked sticker show comping up in Phoenix, AZ (USA). Start getting your stuff over there and be part of the goodnesss!
Prepare yourself for a great show from Orticanoodles. Galerie Itinerrance will open the first show in Paris of the Milanese Duo. The opening night is march 11th. Check out more info about the show on StencilhistoryX.
The frost is starting to break over here in the UK, so it must be time to get ready for the Spring/Summer painting season. This, of course, means it's time for Upfest.
Last year there were 150 artists for the event, and it sounds like they're already over that number for registrations already.
Having been to a few Upfest events as a spectator/non-painting helper person, I can attest that it's a great time even without a can of paint in your hand, so worth putting in your calendars now.
Seems Laser 3.14 keeps on beeing busy! His solo show @ the Art Kitchen in Amsterdam isn't finished yet, and his new show is already up soon! Bit of the press release (which promises it'll be an interesting show):
"On Saturday March 20th at 17.00 the gallery RADAR Architecture & Art will start the exhibition ‘Can I please finish my sentence for...' which will show artwork from the well-known streetpoet Laser 3.14. Radar Architecture & Art invites all interested to the opening of the show and for some drinks at the Eerste Rozendwarsstraat at 17hs."More Info here.

Excuse the bit of self-promotion, but February 18 I'll be opening an exhibit in Rome about the street art and photography project I've been working on with Roman artists Mr. Klevra and Omino71 over the past few months. During the opening tomorrow night they'll be painting a huge 4 m x 3 m poster and people will be allowed to tag, sticker, paint a portion of the poster as well, which will then be pasted up inside. They'll also be a projection of my photography of the project on several large screens, so come by and check it out if you are in Rome.
A small excerpt from the catalog I created (check it out below, in both Italian and English) explains the process of EikonprOJeKt and how it started:
"I first met Mr.Klevra while photographing a live painting performanceand, by chance, I photographed one of Omino71’s icons on the street. Then they invited me to document their first public installation, which I mentioned before, and participate in a group exhibition organized by StickMyWorld. It was for that exhibition that I printed a black and white poster depicting one of their posters hanging in the sun in a courtyard Garbatella, but I couldn’t use it due to rain and so I told them to keep it and paint it. It ended up coming out so well that we decided paste it up and EikonprOJeKt was born. Ever since I photograph them whenever they go out to paste up their posters and from those photos I chose the one that I like best and which gives an idea of the urban context where the poster was attached. I work with the image in Photoshop to give it more graphic style and create the black and white image for the new poster. The newly created image gets printed out with a plotter, repainted by them, and hung back out on the street in a different urban setting, which I also photograph, starting the whole cycle over again. So we end up with a poster made from a picture of another poster, which is created from a picture of another poster…."
You might have discovered that the posts on crackforyoureyes.com have been somewhat sporadic lately. That's because I started an internship at the Mediamatic foundation in Amsterdam recently. Don't worry, I'll keep you up to date with what's going on.
And the next thing up @ the Mediamatic Expo is 'The Great Jerry Springer Rodeo Show' presented by Sjocosjon and the SFFRMKRS.:
"A grotesque carnaval filled with violent and interactive installations. Inspired by The Jerry Springer Show, the most bizar talkshow that ever polluted our tv screens. Embrace the violence and the madness. No shame.
