"Both two artists and two friends are honored this week by The Stencil Of The Week: C215 and his model Logan Hicks. In his new manner, C215 tributes to his NYC based stencil artist friend through his portrait and some elements of recall - the graphic background or electric red colours that evoke Logan’s work. It seems that this is the beginning of a series …"
From Babelgum "When artist Aakash Nihalani moved from the suburbs to NYC he was compelled by its symmetry. As an organic response he started laying down tape on the streets and on buildings, creating brightly colored sticker tape boxes framing aspects of the city he wanted to show people, creating tableaus from real life. Both uncomfortable at potentially defacing property by using permanent materials, and enraged at the continued treatment of public artists as vandals, we join him as he brings 3D to his work for the first time, via use of mirrors and passers-by, and discuss why impermanence is important to the acceptance of street art." Both palm of the week and palm of the exhibition “Go Get Your Shinebox”, this is Paper Monster! This November 21st was indeed the opening of the Brooklynite Gallery group show “Go Get Your Shinebox. Although the concept of the show does not fail to mention that C215 was the first to work on shoeshine boxes, it is quite different. This group show will feature over 100 works from artists all looking to answer the question of how to survive in these economic times by creating their own interpretation of a “Survival Box.”
Looking forward to the mad work that will be displayed at the Shinebox Show in New York. Over 100 international artists contributed to this show dedicated to (art) survival in days of recession. The reason I've heard of this show was because we already displayed the amazing piece Penny has send in! Anyway, details:

Interesting first part of an interview with NYC (street) artist Imminent Disaster. Intersting stuff: "Having said that, the fact that there are no accompanying artists’ statements or titles on street-work is in its favor. Putting things up on the street is about relinquishing control of the works, to the weather, to the city buff, to the hipsters who will scratch out the eyeballs of wheatpastes because of drunken fancy, or proto-intellectual judgment, or some sort of gentrification control motive. For me it's become a kind of public abandonment of work that otherwise would be privately abandoned."
Some amazing photography by Lois Stavsky aka Loisinwonderland. She got around bed-stuy to take some pics of the street art in Bed-Stuy, NYC and found this amazing NY scene as well. Read the full story on her blog and check out the Bed-Stuy graff right here.
